My latest adventure is Alpaca. I meet a lady who lives in north Florida with a lot of Alpace's that needs spinning. She is not a spinner herself yet, but I'm working on that. I went over to see her and picked up 2 bags of Alpaca and left her with my spar spinning wheel. At this point in my spinning I'm just experimenting, I spun up some worsted right off the blanket raw and then washed it. Turned out OK. Then I spun up some DK and am still working on that. My next will be chunky to see which I like to spin most.
I think I'm going to half to wash it before spinning . I have had sines problems and headaches sense I started working with it. I'm assuming being its hair not fur it must be something they rolled in of some kind of pollen trapped in the blanket.
